Myntra bags franchise rights for UK’s fashion retailer NEXT for Indian market

Myntra has ramped up its international fashion play with NEXT after securing franchise rights for UK’s biggest fashion retailer. NEXT on other hand will tap into the vast market of the Asian nation where conglomerates such as Reliance and Tata are also ramping up presence in the clothing market.

The association enables NEXT to tap into the vast, diverse and ever-evolving Indian market by allowing Myntra Jabong Pvt Ltd to distribute its products on a wholesale basis, aiding the brand in establishing a strong consumer base via independent third-party franchise partners and distributors.

NEXT, a top fashion brand from the UK, has awarded Myntra Jabong the rights to distribute and manage its products, while the e-tailer will also push NEXT’s omni-channel presence in India, the company said.

As part of this franchise deal, Myntra’s wholesale business will establish NEXT branded stores in India. The brand will offer a range of apparel for children, women and men via stores and on online platform.

Within the initial years of operation, 8-10 NEXT stores will be launched in major Indian cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru, alongside a strong online presence on the Myntra platform.

The partnership allows NEXT to enter the expansive Indian market. “We are thrilled to deepen our association with NEXT and strategically build its omni-channel presence in the country. With a strong playbook in exponentially building adoption for global brands ground-up, we are looking forward to unlocking the next phase of growth in the brand’s India scale-up journey,” said Nandita Sinha, Chief Executive Officer, Myntra.Simon Wolfson, the Chief Executive of NEXT, said they are excited to collaborate with Myntra in one of the world’s fastest-growing markets.
