Missouri sports betting ballot campaign garners support

A campaign to put a sports betting ballot to Missouri voters could well get over the line after assistance from the US state’s professional sports teams.

As reported by the Associated Press, the club mascots of the Cardinals, Royals and St. Louis Blues garnered over 340,000 voter signatures on Thursday.

The campaign requires around 180,000 signatures to qualify, with Republican Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft now needing to validate the signatures before the proposal heads to the ballot.

On-site and mobile sports betting for each of Missouri’s 13 casinos and six professional sports teams are among the offerings proposed by the potential constitutional amendment.
