‘Don’t let Putin launch an attack on Europe’, says Zelensky’s top adviser | Defence in Depth

To mark the second anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, The Telegraph was given exclusive access to travel to Kyiv and conduct a series of interviews with some of the most powerful figures in President Zelensky’s administration.

In last week’s episode, Dom Nicholls interviewed General Budanov – the head of Ukraine’s military intelligence.

This week, we sit down with one of Mr Zelensky’s chief advisors: Mykhailo Podolyak.

Since early 2020, he has controlled the entire information strategy of the Office of the President, shaping the way that Kyiv has projected its struggle to the world. In the days following the invasion, he was also the main speaker on behalf of Ukraine in the negotiations between his country and Russia.

“The only army that is ready to confront Russia today is the Ukrainian army,” he says.

“Taking into account that North Korea and Iran [are arming Russia], we need more missiles, drones, shells and ammunition.

“Anything that will allow us to effectively destroy Russia until Russia chokes on its own blood.”
