THE Met Office has issued a yellow warning for rain – with flooding and travel chaos expected.

Heavy rain will soak eastern and south west England overnight, forecasters said.

The Met Office has issued yellow rain warnings

Yellow rain warnings are in force for the east coast from Essex up to Newcastle and for much of the West Country.

The downpour could flood homes, roads and train lines – sparking travel delays.

A whopping 30mm of rain could fall in some areas covered by the warnings.

The yellow rain warning for the south west will stay in place until 6am tomorrow, and the warning for the east coast will last until midday.

But the rain will carry on tomorrow, spreading across the west and turning thundery.

The Environment Agency has issued 82 “expected” flood warnings and 262 “possible” flood alerts across England.

A few relatively lucky parts of the UK may see a mix of clear spells and patchy fog.

Monday will be breezy with sunny spells and showers, before the rain returns for good on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Temperatures will hover around the annual average, though mild in the south.
