Saturday, 12.30pm: Celtic v Rangers
Scottish Premiership match at Parkhead
TV: Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Football

Celtic to win

Celtic have been the dominant side in the Old Firm rivalry this season, and a victory at Parkhead over Rangers would go a long way to sealing the Premiership title.

The Hoops have won two of the three previous fixtures between the two this term, including the previous encounter at Celtic Park 2-1, although that game was changed by a red card to Leon Balogun with 20 minutes remaining.

Brendan Rodgers’ team are also the club in form ahead of this match. Celtic have won five of their last six league games, scoring three times in each meeting with the exception of a 2-1 win over Dundee.

Rangers, meanwhile, have won only three of their last seven – a sequence that will likely cost them the title. With a depleted attack and Connor Goldson injured in defence, they will do well to keep their championship hopes alive.

Alistair Johnston to be shown a card

With so much on the line, no one is expecting this to be anything but a fiery encounter that will see a flurry of cards.

Celtic right back Johnston is likely to find himself in the thick of this. An aggressive player by nature, he is hard-tackling and one mistake will likely get the attention of referee Willie Collum.

The Canada international has been booked in each of the last two Old Firm games and is likely to make it a hat-trick here.

Johnston is Celtic’s most booked player in Premiership action this season with five goals, and with no prospect of being banned due to an accumulation of yellow cards, he can cut lose here.

Kyogo Furuhashi to score anytime

Furuhashi has been the man for the big occasion this season for Celtic, scoring twice against Rangers already. He got the only goal of the game back in August at Ibrox before scoring a brilliant strike early in the second half in the previous Parkhead meeting.

This has been a prolonged trend for the Japan international. He also netted in two of three starts against Rangers last season, with the exception the 3-0 loss at Ibrox late in the campaign when the title was already won.

The 29-year-old is the scourge of Rangers and has every chance of maintaining that crown on Saturday.

Celtic corner match bet

Celtic are likely to spend much of this match on the front foot, which should lend itself to winning a high number of corners.

That has certainly been the trend in their matches this season, with the Hoops winning an average of 10.82 corners per game at home. This compares to Rangers’ 6.53 corners on the road.

Old Firm matches this season have shown that these figures are unlikely to be reached, but they have been dominated territorially by the hosts, leading to the home team earning more corners. Look for that to continue.

Cyriel Dessers to commit 2 or more fouls

Cyriel Dessers has proven to be a difficult player to predict this season, but what is probable is that the burly Rangers frontman will put himself about and make a nuisance of himself in this game. That’s certainly been the case in the previous Old Firm matches he has played.

Dessers has already committed two fouls in a couple of the three matches between the teams this season, while he is averaging 1.54 fouls per 90. In a game in which he is liable to contest more duels than usual, the odds are that the Nigeria international will make a couple of slip-ups to give away free kicks.
