Edmonton Oilers at Nashville Predators preview
Tuesday night Kris Knoblauch’s men were throttled by an inspired Columbus Blue Jackets side losing 6-1. Not only did the Oilers lose their fifth regular season game, they lost arguably the best player in today’s game with Connor McDavid suffering a lower-body injury in his first shift of the game.
Andrew Brunette’s crew suffered their first defeat in four games after securing three straight wins. The Predators were defeated in overtime by a score of 3-2 on the road against the Tampa Bay Lightning. It was an emotional game for Steven Stamkos who returned to his old stomping ground where he spent 16 seasons and won two Stanley Cups with Tampa.

Edmonton Oilers at Nashville Predators predictions
As stated above, Connor McDavid will be out with an ankle injury he suffered on Tuesday night, his timeline is to return in around three weeks. For one of the league’s best players, McDavid started the year below his standards registering 10 points in as many games.
Leon Draisaitl will know how to do some more heavy lifting in McDavid’s absence. The 29-year-old leads the team in the goals department with six on the year. In 729 regular season games, the 2020 Art Ross Trophy winner has amassed 860 points.
In the blue paint, the Oilers have yet to see any promising signs things will turn out very soon. Between Stuart Skinner and Calvin Pickard, both tandems are below the .900 save percent mark with a combined save percentage average of 0.873.
Between the pipes, Juuse Saros is showing promising signs he’s getting back to his usual form in the net. The 29-year-old Finnish netminder has won two of his last three starts. With his recent surge in the crease, Saros has bumped his season save percentage up to .905.
Seeing his six-game point streak come to a halt against the lightning, Filip Forsberg will look to get back on track. Through nine outings, the Swede has potted home four goals and has acquired eight points.
Edmonton Oilers at Nashville Predators betting tips
Thursday night could prove to be a lower-scoring game despite the flaws both sides possess with their goals-against record this season. The goal total has gone under in five of the last six games for the Oilers and dating back to their last 54 away games, the under has hit on 34 occasions.
For Nashville, they have had their share of lower-scoring tilts recently with four of their last six games going beneath the goal total. After giving up six against Columbus and losing McDavid for a short while the Oilers could emphasize their play more on defence. Nashville started the year giving up four goals or more in their first five games, since then they have tightened things on the backline. These two have already faced off against each other earlier this year with Edmonton winning 4-2 at home, we feel Thursday night this encounter could feature less than six goals.
