Bill to allow online sports betting dies in Legislature – WXXV News 25

A bill that would have allowed online sports betting in Mississippi has died in conference.

House Bill 774, authored by Rep. Casey Eure, R-Harrison, would have made online race books and online sports pools legal in Mississippi.

The measure passed the House early in the session and was sent to the Senate, who passed an amended version. However, the two chambers could not agree on a compromise and it died in conference on Monday.

That means gamblers will not be allowed to bet on any sports games online. The only legal sports gambling will be at the casinos themselves.

Proponents will have to wait until the 2025 session to try to get the measure passed.
