Florida basketball returns home on Saturday following a bye week to host the surging Auburn Tigers inside the O’Connell Center in what promises to be an exciting afternoon Southeastern Conference matchup.

The Gators are coming off a last-minute loss to the Texas A&M Aggies in College Station last Saturday which followed their overtime triumph against the Kentucky Wildcats in Lexington. Still floating on the NCAA Tournament bubble, Todd Golden’s team really needs this win.

The Tigers have won three in a row coming into this one and are essentially a lock for the Big Dance. Bruce Pearl’s squad has been among the best both in the conference and the nation this season once again.

Take a look below at the betting odds and other relevant information for Florida vs Auburn in Gainesville on Saturday afternoon.

  • Florida is 63rd in the nation in assists (15.3 per game) in 2023-24.

Using the Basketball Power Index, ESPN is giving the Auburn Tigers 61.5% odds to come out on top by a projected 3.1 points over the Gators. The matchup quality earns a 93.4-point grade, putting it eighth among the games being played on Saturday.

Playing on their home court and looking to bounce back from the TAMU loss, I expect Florida to bring everything they have against Auburn on Saturday. The Gators will out-rebound the Tigers — specifically on the offensive glass — but that won’t be enough to fend off the visitors. Todd Golden’s team will take a lead into the final minutes… but once again will come up short.

Auburn 86, Florida 83

The Gators seem to love playing in overtime this season, competing in three separate overtime contests (including a double-overtime win against the Michigan Wolverines), and the battle of two bigs in the paint might make for another nailbiter of a game.

The Tigers are 3-3 on the road and the O’Dome is a tough venue for any team to compete in. If the stars align, the Gators can find their much-needed redemption and another Quadrant 1 win on their home court.

Auburn 94, Florida 93 (OT)

Auburn is on a high right now, and Wednesday’s win over Alabama could either make or break their Saturday performance. If Broome and Williams reach double-figures, and Chad Baker-Mazara continues to provide solid relief off the bench, then the Tigers should escape as victors.

I think it will be close, with Auburn earning a 75-72 win.
